The Norwegian stone was presented by Ms. Linda Fredheim a local Hobart resident on behalf of the Sortland Council of Norway and the Norwegian Community in Tasmania on 3rd of June 1987.The stone is black granite with a polished face. The coat-of-arms of Sortland Council, Norway and the Norwegian flag appear and the text is engraved. All beds have been left natural. It was brought to Hobart by the Norwegian Captain of the Antarctic supply ship, Polar Bjorn .
