Donation to the International Wall of Friendship

 Slovenia plaque

The Slovenian stone was donated on 20th May 1995 on behalf of the former Slovenian club in Hobart. The stone was presented by Mr Anton Ambroz, who arrived in Tasmania in July 1949 and is believed to be the first Slovene to settle here. The stone is of dark grey granite with a polished face. At the top left is the engraved design of the Slovenian coat-of-arms depicting Triglav, the highest peak in the Julian Alps in the Northwest corner of Slovenia. The coat-of-arms is set in a red border, and shows the mountain in white with a blue coloured sky containing three yellow stars above. The gold-filled inscription is first in Slovenian and then in English and includes the year of presentation
