Donation to the International Wall of Friendship

 Sri Lanka plaque

The Sri Lankan stone was presented by Mr Kumar Ediriweera, President of the Friends of Sri Lanka organisation on 2nd of November 1996 at an event to mark the fourth anniversary of the opening of the Wall of Friendship. The stone is black granite with a polished face. At the top centre of the gold-filled engraved design is the national emblem of Sri Lanka comprised of a lion in the centre crowned by the wheel of existence a Buddhist symbol with signs of the moon and sun on the opposite sides set on the background of a lotus a symbol of purity. Below is the inscription in Sinhalese, Tamil and English. The whole design is contained within a decorative border
